Langtang North emerges APC mobilisation hub as party assesses e-registration

Langtang North Local Government Area has taken centre stage in the All Progressives Congress’ renewed grassroots mobilisation drive in Plateau State, following the choice of the area as one of the take-off points for the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration assessment.

The development unfolded as the Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, received his APC membership card from the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, during an assessment visit to the council area.

The exercise, which held at the Christ College of Theology and Education, Pyal, attracted party leaders, government officials, traditional rulers and stakeholders from across the state, reinforcing Langtang North’s growing relevance in Plateau’s political landscape.

Addressing party members and residents, Tyem said the decision to commence the assessment exercise in Langtang North reflected confidence in the people of the area and the broader Tarok Nation.

“This visit is of immense significance to us. By selecting Langtang North as one of the Local Government Areas to commence this important exercise in Plateau State, the APC National Leadership has demonstrated great confidence in our people, our party structures, and our collective commitment to strengthening grassroots participation,” he said.

He described the visit by the national leadership as a strong signal of inclusion, noting that grassroots engagement remained central to building a viable and united political party.

“Your presence here today further underscores the party’s unwavering resolve to promote transparency, internal democracy, and effective organisation at the grassroots level, which remains the backbone of our great party,” the council chairman added.

Tyem assured the APC leadership of the readiness of the local government to mobilise its people and support the successful implementation of the e-registration exercise, stressing that Langtang North was prepared to play its role in strengthening the party from the ground up.

On his part, the APC National Chairman, Prof. Yilwatda, explained that the e-registration exercise was part of the party’s digital transformation agenda aimed at ensuring credible membership records and deepening internal democracy nationwide.

He noted that the assessment visit was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of the process at the grassroots and reinforce inclusiveness in party building, particularly in strategic communities across Plateau State.

The visit also provided an opportunity for other prominent party figures to formally align with the APC, as the Plateau State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Ubandoma Laven, and the member representing Langtang North-North Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Abel Nansak Nimchak, also received their temporary membership cards.

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, while addressing the gathering, urged residents of Langtang North and the wider Tarok Nation to actively participate in the APC e-registration exercise and the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration.

He emphasised the importance of citizens possessing valid National Identification Numbers and Permanent Voter Cards, noting that political participation remained critical to sustaining Plateau State’s relevance at the national level.

The governor also acknowledged the support of the Tarok Nation during the 2023 general elections and called for unity, reconciliation and renewed commitment among party members as political activities ahead of future elections gather momentum.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the Secretary to the State Government, Arch. Nanchang Samuel Jatau, party leaders, members of the National Assembly and representatives of the traditional institution, all of whom stressed the need for unity, mobilisation and sustained grassroots engagement.

The event ended with calls on party members and eligible residents to complete their APC e-registration, revalidate existing memberships and fully participate in the Continuous Voter Registration exercise as preparations towards the 2027 general elections continue.
