A youth group within the All Progressives Congress has endorsed the governorship aspiration of Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose for the 2027 election in Lagos, calling on the party to zone the position to Badagry Division.
The group, the APC Youth League, said the move would address what it described as a longstanding political imbalance, noting that Badagry is yet to produce a governor since the creation of the state.
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Saturday, the National President of the organisation, Alhaji Musa Mohammed, said fairness, equity and political balance demand that the governorship seat be ceded to Badagry in the 2027 election.
According to him, while other divisions within the IBILE structure have produced governors at different times, Badagry remains the only division without representation at the state’s highest political office.
Mohammed described Ajose as a capable entrepreneur and philanthropist with grassroots support across the state, adding that his experience in infrastructure development, real estate and construction demonstrates his ability to manage large-scale projects and drive economic growth.
He also highlighted Ajose’s humanitarian initiatives, including scholarships, community empowerment programmes and support for vulnerable families, noting that his development vision focuses on job creation, tourism development, youth skills acquisition and technology-driven growth.
The group therefore urged leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress to consider competence, loyalty and political equity in selecting the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
