A passenger was killed while three others sustained injuries in a collision involving two commercial tricycles along Haske Road near Lamingo Golf Club in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The accident, which occurred at about 5 p.m. on Monday, caused panic among residents and motorists in the area.
An eyewitness, Joseph Haruna, said the crash happened when one of the tricycle operators attempted to avoid a pothole on the road and veered into an oncoming tricycle.
According to him, the impact of the collision claimed the life of one passenger at the scene, while three other occupants sustained varying degrees of injuries.
“The injured victims were immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he said.
Another resident, Moses John, described the incident as unfortunate and called on relevant authorities to urgently rehabilitate the deteriorating sections of Haske Road.
He noted that the numerous potholes along the route had become a major hazard to motorists, commercial tricycle operators and other road users.
“The potholes on this road pose a serious danger to road users and need urgent attention,” he said.
The accident also triggered heavy traffic congestion along the busy road as commuters and motorists struggled to navigate the affected area.
