The Nigerian Army has appointed Major General WM Dangana as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division Nigerian Army, and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, following a major reshuffle of senior officers approved by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.
The redeployment, announced in a statement signed by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, and made available in Jos by the Media Information Officer of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Captain Chinonso Oteh, is aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness, enhancing national security and improving the Army’s response to emerging security threats.
Major General Dangana succeeds Major General EF Oyinlola, while Major General EI Okoro has been appointed General Officer Commanding, 6 Division Nigerian Army, and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force South-South Operation DELTA SAFE, replacing Major General EE Emeka.
The reshuffle also saw the appointment of Major General JR Lar as Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison, while Brigadier General OM Oyekola was named Acting Military Secretary (Army). Brigadier General I Waziri retained his position as Chief of Staff in the Office of the Chief of Army Staff.
Other operational appointments include Brigadier General IB Buhari as Commander, Headquarters 63 Brigade, and Brigadier General K Rabiu as Commander, Headquarters 31 Artillery Brigade.
Major General SA Emmanuel was appointed Commander of the Nigerian Army Space Command, while Major General O Adegbe will serve as Director of Intelligence and Security at Defence Headquarters.
In the training and educational institutions, Major General KE Chigbu becomes Deputy Commandant of the National Defence College, Major General SD Makolo assumes office as Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armour School, while Major General SO Adejimi and Major General FS Etim were appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport and Chief of Training at the Headquarters, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), respectively.
Brigadier General U Ahmad was also named Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria.
The Army further appointed Major General KO Ukandu as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Post Housing Development Limited (PHDL), while Major General AI Allison becomes Managing Director of Defence Properties Limited.
Lieutenant General Shaibu charged the newly appointed officers to demonstrate exemplary leadership, professionalism and innovation in the discharge of their responsibilities, stressing the need for unwavering commitment to the Army’s constitutional mandate.
According to the statement, the redeployments are part of ongoing efforts to build a highly professional, combat-ready and people-oriented force capable of addressing Nigeria’s current and future security challenges.
