The Sabongida Ward Executive Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Langtang South Local Government Area has announced the suspension of former Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Solomon Dalung, citing alleged anti-party activities and questioning his membership status within the party.
In a notice dated January 20, 2026, and addressed to Dalung, the ward leadership declared that the suspension takes immediate effect.
The decision, according to the document signed by ward executive members, followed concerns that his actions were contrary to the interests of the party.
The ward executive committee stated that Dalung is not a registered member of the ADC in Sabongida Ward. It further alleged that he has been hosting members of opposition parties, an action it described as being against the constitution of the ADC.
The notice indicated that his actions were deemed inconsistent with party loyalty and discipline, and directed him to return all party materials and assets in his possession.
Copies of the letter were also sent to the party’s national and state structures, suggesting an attempt to escalate the matter beyond the ward level.
The document bears the names and signatures of 22 ward executive members, including the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary, and other principal officers, signalling a collective decision by the ward leadership.
The development introduces a new layer of tension within the party at the grassroots level in Langtang South, particularly given Dalung’s political stature and influence in Plateau State politics.
However, it remains unclear whether the ward executive committee has the constitutional authority to unilaterally suspend a high-profile member without ratification from the state or national leadership of the party.
As of the time of filing this report, Hon. Solomon Dalung had not publicly responded to the allegations, and officials of the ADC at the state level were yet to issue a formal statement clarifying the party’s position on the matter.
The unfolding situation is expected to test internal party cohesion within the ADC in Plateau State, especially if differing interpretations of party membership and disciplinary procedures emerge in the coming days.
