The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has commissioned a Disease Surveillance Centre and the Multi-Omics and Global Health International Laboratory (MOGHIL) at the University of Jos as part of efforts to strengthen research capacity and address national health challenges.
The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Architect Sonny Echono, who performed the commissioning ceremony at the institution, said the projects were funded under the 2024 Special Intervention initiative.
Echono explained that the intervention was a deliberate move by the Fund to support institutions in tackling critical healthcare issues through advanced research and innovation.
He further assured that TETFund would continue to partner with the University of Jos in its commitment to providing a conducive environment for teaching, learning and research in line with its core mandate.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishaya, expressed appreciation to TETFund for its sustained support to the institution and appealed for additional interventions.
Ishaya described the commissioning as a landmark achievement, noting that it reflected the university management’s visionary leadership and commitment to academic excellence and impactful research.
