The management of University of Jos has responded to a notice issued by the institution’s chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which declared a total withdrawal of services over alleged delays in salary payments and the non-inclusion of Earned Academic Allowances (EAA).
In a statement released by the university’s Deputy Registrar for Information and Public Relations, Emmanuel Madugu, management refuted claims that staff salaries for March 2026 had not been paid.
According to the statement, the university has confirmed that all salaries for the month have been duly processed and paid.
The ASUU notice had attributed the delay to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, stating that the university’s bursary department had fulfilled its obligations in the salary payment process.
In response, the university management acknowledged the concerns but maintained that it had taken all necessary steps within its capacity to address any challenges related to the payment process.
“Management can confirm that the University has done all within its disposal to address the challenge,” the statement read.
While addressing the ongoing situation, the university appealed to the ASUU branch at UNIJOS to call off the withdrawal of services and encourage lecturers to return to work.
Management emphasized the importance of maintaining the longstanding cordial relationship between both parties for the continued progress of the institution.
The statement concluded with a call for cooperation and mutual understanding to ensure stability in academic activities at the university.
