Nwan donates 105 books to NOUN to boost research and learning

Dr. Moses Nwan, Executive Private Secretary to the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has donated 105 textbooks to the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Abuja, in a move aimed at strengthening academic research and enhancing student learning.

Dr. Nwan, a recent doctoral graduate of the institution, presented the books to the Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution at the university’s headquarters. The donation, coming shortly after his graduation, underscores his commitment to giving back to the institution that contributed to his academic development.

The books cover key areas such as security studies, peace and conflict resolution, and the humanities. They are expected to enrich the university’s library resources, support research activities, and encourage students to strive for academic excellence.

Known for his commitment to human capital development, Nwan has consistently supported youth empowerment initiatives, including scholarships, mentorship programmes, and skills acquisition schemes. His interventions have created opportunities for underprivileged Nigerians, enabling many young people to build capacity and contribute meaningfully to society.

Speaking at the presentation, Nwan described the donation as part of his broader effort to promote intellectual development across institutions he has attended. He stressed the critical role of education in shaping responsible leadership and driving sustainable national development.

He also expressed gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for his support during the final phase of his doctoral studies, offering prayers for continued success in his leadership.

Nwan further commended the university’s leadership, the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution for their role in producing skilled graduates. He pledged continued support toward advancing the institution’s academic objectives.

Among notable alumni of the programme is Abdulazeez Arowona, Managing Director of EMIRATE RADIO 98.5FM and Press Secretary to the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sule-Gambari.

In his remarks, the Head of Department, Dr. Phillip Orebiyi, commended the gesture and urged other alumni to emulate such contributions in strengthening research and academic development nationwide.

Also speaking, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Kamaldeen Bello, described Nwan as a worthy ambassador of the institution, praising his humility, dedication, and commitment to service.
