The management of Command Secondary School Jos in Plateau State, has reaffirmed its dedication to the growth and development of students by pledging to prioritize the desires of parents without compromise.
Lieutenant Colonel OA Oduyemi made this commitment during the school’s 41st Annual Inter-house Sports Competition, held on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
During the event, he expressed gratitude to parents for entrusting their children’s education to the school, emphasizing the importance of the event that has brought the school community together for over four decades.
“This celebration goes beyond athletics, showcasing perseverance, teamwork, discipline, and resilience,” Oduyemi said, commending the students for their dedication and determination.
He also praised the teachers, coaches, and staff for nurturing the talents of the students, helping them become the athletes and individuals they are today.
“Your guidance, mentorship and unwavering support have been instrumental in shaping them into the Athletes and individuals they are today”.he noted.
Representing Dr. Maryam Muhammad, Director of the National Veterinary Research Institute, Dr. Sati Ngulukun, emphasized the importance of sports in promoting unity and breaking stereotypes.
While declaring the Competition open,the Special Guest of Honour, Major General Abdulsalami Abubakar the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army Jos and Commander Operation Safe Haven who was represented by the Commander 3 Division Garrison, Brigadier General MK Sanda,commended the competition’s discipline and the management’s success in organizing the event.
He also thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja for supporting Nigerian Army programs.
Dragon House emerged as the overall winner with 225 points, followed by Tiger House with 212 points and Stallion House with 186 points.
The Corps Commander Education, Major General BA Tsoho, encouraged students to strive for excellence and oversaw the presentation of gifts, trophies, and medals.
The event featured relay races, staff races, and combat demonstrations, with deserving houses and schools receiving trophies and medals.
