Chairman of DSK Group International Limited, Chief (Dr.) David Sabo Kente, has assured Plateau State civil servants that the 2,000 housing units approved for them under the National Housing Programme will be delivered with durability and quality as top priorities.
Kente gave the assurance in Jos while speaking with journalists on the first phase of the project, involving 400 units recently flagged off by Governor Caleb Mutfwang. He said DSK had the proven capacity to execute large-scale housing schemes that stand the test of time.
“This is not the first project we are handling that has to do with Plateau people. Our first project was the Kwararafa Estate in Abuja, which was acquired by Bingham University. If you go there today, more than 10 years after completion, the quality of the structures remains excellent,” he said.
He disclosed that the scheme is being financed by the Federal Mortgage Bank and the Pension Commission, while the Plateau State Government provided land for the project.
According to him, over ₦300 million was paid to the host community to secure full land acquisition and resolve disputes that had frustrated previous housing initiatives in the state.
On security concerns, Kente said:“We have made arrangements to safeguard construction materials and personnel, with several security outfits working alongside government agencies to provide a safe environment despite the area’s history of instability.”
He added that the project would be executed in phases with strict adherence to design specifications and close monitoring.
He explained that the “pay-for-delivery” financing model—under which houses are completed before payments are made—would strengthen accountability and ensure timely completion.
Project Manager, Engr. Christopher Nathaniel, confirmed that site preparation and groundwork had already commenced. He expressed confidence that the first set of units would be ready within the next two to three months.
“The project team is working closely with the government to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards,” Nathaniel said.
Kente, a businessman and philanthropist with interests in real estate, oil and gas, and agro-allied ventures, also runs the DSK Foundation, which supports youth empowerment, education, and humanitarian causes.
