Jos North Hausa–Fulani Political Forum Dumps PDP for APC

The Hausa–Fulani Political Forum in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State has formally announced its defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a notable political realignment within the area.

The announcement was made during a press briefing in Jos, where the forum declared its decision to withdraw from the PDP and align with the APC following consultations among its leadership and members.

The forum said its decision was informed by developments within the PDP and the need to take what it described as a responsible and forward-looking political position in the interest of its members and supporters.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the Chairman of the Hausa–Fulani Political Forum in Jos North, Barrister Auwal Haruna, said leadership required courage, accountability and timely decision-making, particularly in periods of political uncertainty.

He noted that the forum could no longer ignore the challenges facing the PDP and resolved to act in a manner it considered protective of its collective political future.

According to Haruna, the forum agreed to collapse all its political structures under the PDP and commence full integration into the APC at ward and local government levels.

As you all know that leadership was never conceived as a tool for personal enrichment but as a selflessness sacrifice and a burden of responsibility entrusted to a few for the benefit of all.

As leaders we must take note and beware of the consequences of reckless decisions. In fact, it is a trust, and every trust, sooner or later will be accounted for.” he stated.

The forum linked its defection to wider political realignments in Plateau State, expressing confidence that alignment with the ruling party would create a more stable political environment and improve governance outcomes.

Haruna said the group believes that cooperation between state and federal authorities is essential for accelerating development and improving the welfare of citizens, especially at the grassroots.

The defection of His Excellency, the Executive Governor to the Ruling APC will enhance synergy and strengthen engagements with the Federal Government for Projects, and Programs that will benefit Plateau State, especially, on the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu CFR, and specifically, on the Local Government Autonomy, which will bring succour to the Common Man at the Grassroot level.”

The forum also used the occasion to urge its members across Jos North to register with the APC at their respective wards and remain committed to peaceful and lawful political participation.

Haruna said the forum’s leadership was determined not only to defect but to actively contribute to strengthening the APC’s structure and activities within the local government area.

He added that the decision was taken with the broader interest of Plateau State in mind and not for personal or sectional gain.

“It is in this regards that we called on all our members to join the APC at their various wards, and continued to support the captain of the ‘Time is Now’, Barr. Caleb Manesseh Mutfwang, while on our own part, we have today collapsed all our structures and join a similar forum in APC to strengthened and solidify the Forum, and add value for the success of the APC in all its future endeavours,” Haruna added.

Officials of the APC present at the briefing welcomed the defectors and assured them of equal rights and full participation within the party. They urged the new members to uphold party discipline and unity as the APC continues to consolidate its political base in Plateau State.
