Mutfwang Again Initiative Boosts Grassroots Culture, Donates Outfits to Kwarak Dance Troupe in Bwonpe

As part of efforts to promote cultural heritage and strengthen grassroots participation in community development, the Mutfwang Again Initiative has unveiled a new logo and donated branded outfits and support materials to the Kwarak Cultural Dance Troupe in Bwonpe District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The event, held at the palace of the District Head of Bwonpe, Chief (Dr.) Clement S. Wetkur (JP), marked a symbolic moment of cultural revival and community pride.Chief Wetkur, who received the delegation led by the Convener of the Mutfwang Again Initiative, Mr. Elvis Katlong, described the visit as “a homecoming,” noting that Katlong’s gesture reflected the values of unity and service to the people.

He expressed excitement about the development and commended Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for what he described as “visionary leadership and deliberate efforts in advancing cultural and social renaissance across Plateau State.”

According to him, “This visit is a homecoming. Elvis Katlong remains a proud son of this land whose name truly reflects this gesture. I am deeply excited by this initiative and the Governor’s continued encouragement of cultural revival at the grassroots. His leadership has brought inclusion, hope, and pride to our people.”

The District Head also declared 2025/2026 as the “Year of Return” for sons and daughters of Bwonpe, urging indigenes at home and abroad to reconnect with their roots and contribute to the unity and progress of their community.

In his remarks, the Convener of the Mutfwang Again Initiative, Mr. Elvis Katlong, said the gesture was in alignment with the Governor’s mission of empowering the grassroots through cultural preservation and creativity.

Our focus is to support local cultural groups, promote their visibility, and contribute to the Governor’s vision of a socially vibrant and inclusive Plateau. Culture remains a powerful tool for unity and identity, and we are committed to sustaining it through initiatives like this,” Katlong stated.

During the event, the Initiative presented the Kwarak Cultural Dance Troupe with newly branded outfits, promotional materials, a cash donation, and other items aimed at boosting the group’s morale and recognition.

Members of the Kwarak Cultural Dance Troupe expressed appreciation to Governor Mutfwang for his support toward cultural expression across the state. They also commended the Mutfwang Again Initiative for promoting grassroots arts and pledged to use their performances to advocate peace and unity in the region.

The occasion featured energetic performances, blessings from the District Head, and the unveiling of the new logo symbolizing a renewed cultural identity for Bwonpe and its people.
