Mutfwang Reshuffles Cabinet, Merges Education Ministries, and Creates Livestock Development Ministry

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has reshuffled his cabinet, appointing new commissioners and restructuring key ministries in a bid to enhance governance and service delivery in Plateau State.

The changes include the merger of the Secondary and Tertiary Education ministries and the creation of a Ministry of Livestock Development, Veterinary Services, and Fisheries.

Swearing in five newly appointed commissioners at the Victoria Gowon Hall, New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, on Tuesday, Mutfwang emphasized that the appointments were not political rewards but responsibilities requiring diligence and accountability.

He urged the new officials to align with his administration’s vision for sustainable progress.

In the last 20 months, the people of Plateau State have placed their trust in us to rebuild, restore, and reposition our beloved state.

Your appointment is not a privilege but a responsibility to serve with diligence, transparency, and accountability,” he said.

The governor likened governance to football, explaining that leadership adjustments are necessary to improve efficiency, just as top players are moved to fit evolving team strategies.

As part of his administration’s reforms, Mutfwang announced the consolidation of the education ministries to improve coordination and service delivery.

He also inaugurated the governing councils of Plateau State University, Bokkos; Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin-Ladi; and the College of Education, Gindiri, charging them to revitalize higher education in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, the Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of Plateau State University, Bokkos, Prof. William Barnabas Qurix, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, promising to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.

Following the swearing-in, the governor assigned portfolios to the commissioners in the reshuffled cabinet. The new appointments include:

Jatau Davou Gyang – Transport

– Bugama Samson – Agriculture

– Ephraim Usman – Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs

– Joshua Laven Ubandoma – Works

– Caroline Pangland – Women Affairs

– Dongkum Grace Shwarta – Finance

– Kachollom Pyam Gang – Education

– Nyalum M. Salisu – Commerce and Energy

– Cletus Shurkur – Science and Technology

– Sunday Akpa – Livestock Development, Veterinary Services, and Fisheries

– Bashir Lawandi – Water Resources and Energy

– Joyce Lohya Ramnap – Information and Communication

– Sylvanus Dongtoe – Housing and Urban Development

– Nicholas Ba’amlong – Health

Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and urged the new appointees to serve with dedication, integrity, and innovation.
