Operation Enduring Peace has named Mr. John Katura, philanthropist and Managing Director/CEO of JOKATU Property Development Ltd., Abuja, as an Ambassador of Peace in recognition of his contributions to peacebuilding, youth empowerment and humanitarian causes.

Katura was also presented with an Award of Excellence during the 6th edition of the Operation Enduring Peace Youth Peace Scouting Football Tournament held on Saturday at the JT Useni Mini Stadium, University of Jos.

The award was presented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, Major General M.W. Dangana.

The award was received on Katura’s behalf by Dr. Danjuma Sanda, the YPP candidate for the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

According to the organisers, the recognition was in appreciation of Katura’s humanitarian and peacebuilding efforts, particularly his commitment to youth empowerment and initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of vulnerable members of society.

Speaking to journalists after receiving the award, Sanda said the recognition would encourage Katura to do more for society, particularly in supporting young people.

He described the award as recognition of Katura’s contributions to youth development and humanitarian causes.

“True leadership is measured by the positive footprint left on others, and Mr. John Katura has consistently walked a path of service,” Sanda said.

He said Katura had over the years devoted his time, resources and experience to peacebuilding and youth development through mentoring, employment opportunities and community development initiatives.

Sanda added that Katura’s support for humanitarian causes had also contributed to efforts to improve the welfare of vulnerable people.

The event was attended by the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Prince Miaphen, as well as military officers, religious leaders and traditional rulers.

Some youths who spoke with journalists at the event commended Katura for his contributions to youth empowerment and humanitarian activities.

They said the recognition was significant at a time when insecurity continues to affect communities, adding that greater investment in peacebuilding and youth development was necessary to address some of the challenges facing society.
