Operation SAFE HAVEN: 17 Suspects Nabbed, Arms Seized in Operations

The Media and Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, Captain James Oya, reported that from August 21 to 28, 2023, the Special Force has apprehended 17 individuals suspected of murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.

In addition, they have recovered arms, ammunitions, and illicit substances.

According to Oya, the troops arrested five individuals in connection with the murder of Joshua Deme, who was killed on his farm in Kassa village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Furthermore, during a sting operation in Jagindi Tasha village, Jema’a LGA, Kaduna State, the troops arrested a kidnapping suspect, Baba Yusuf Habu, who has been wanted by OPSH.

Another potential kidnap in Angwan Takai village, Bokkos LGA, was prevented owing to a swift response to a distress call by the troops.

In a related development, the Special Force raided a suspected criminal lair in Gwash and Kamantan villages, Plateau and Kaduna states respectively.

An assortment of arms including a pistol, cartridges and rounds of 7.62mm special were found and seized.

The troops also apprehended an infamous armed robber, Mohammed Lawal, in Kafanchan town. From him, the troops recovered two fabricated rifles and a pistol.

In addition, the troops pulled over a truck with the registration number EKY617XF, which was found to be transporting stolen railway tracks.

The vehicle was intercepted near Gidan Ado village in Riyom LGA, Plateau State.

Captain Oya also informed of a successful sting operation that led to the arrest of reputed drug dealer,

Maxwell Dusu Davou. During the operation, substances believed to be illicit drugs were recovered from Waye Foundation Du in Jos South LGA.

Correspondingly, an effective patrol around Alaghom and Mangu axis neutralized some bandits and led to the recovery of additional weapons, including an AK-47 rifle.
