The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, describing him as a disciplined and tireless public servant whose contributions to governance left a lasting imprint on the state and the Niger Delta.
In a statement issued on Friday and signed by its National Chairman, Ambassador Dr Godknows Boladei Igali, PANDEF said it received with shock the news of Ewhrudjakpo’s death, which occurred on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
The forum described the late deputy governor as a committed and passionate public servant, noting that his dedication to duty earned him the nickname “workaholic Deputy Governor.”
It recalled his tenure as Commissioner of Works in Bayelsa State, where he contributed significantly to infrastructural development, as well as his service as Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the 9th Senate.
According to the statement, Ewhrudjakpo served Bayelsa State and Nigeria with simplicity, candour and patriotism, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and service that will continue to inspire future generations.
PANDEF also extended its condolences to Governor Douye Diri, the Government and people of Bayelsa State, the Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Ofoni Community in Sagbama Local Government Area, and members of the deceased’s immediate family.
“We declare three days of mourning and urge all our branches across Nigeria to refrain from official PANDEF activities with effect from Friday, December 12, 2025, in honour of his memory,” the statement said.
