Plateau ADC Rallies Support for 2027 Coalition, Vows Peaceful Political Revolution

The Plateau State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared its full alignment with what it described as the largest and most powerful political coalition in Nigeria’s history, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a press briefing held in Jos on Sunday, the party said the coalition reflects growing public desperation for democratic change in the face of worsening economic hardship and disillusionment with the current administration.

It called on Nigerians to unite under a peaceful political revolution that would transform the country through the ballot.

Speaking on behalf of the party, State Publicity Secretary Silas Audu Wettok stated that the ADC is committed to providing a credible political alternative.

He said: “Nigerians are now pushed to the wall due to the unpopular policies of this current government, hence the need for a credible political alternative in the country,”

The ongoing coalition in the country is not the same with the type that took place in 2013, not at all. This is the biggest and most powerful coalition in our country’s political history indicating the desperation of Nigerians for a peaceful political revolution come 2027.”

Wettok stressed that the African Democratic Congress is not a new party, but a consistent and registered political platform since 2003.

He described it as one of the few parties that have remained committed to internal democracy and nation-building.

“The ADC is willing to assimilate all patriotic Nigerians who are ready and willing to build a greater Nigeria of our dreams,” he stated.

He revealed that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) led by Oke Nwonsu has been dissolved by the national headquarters, while state structures remain intact.

The directive, he explained, is part of the internal restructuring aimed at strengthening the coalition ahead of 2027.

From now on, all directives are to be taken from the office of the Interim National Chairman, Distinguished Senator David Mark, and the Interim National Secretary, Raul Aregbesola,” Wettok said.“At the state level, instructions will be issued by the Plateau State Chairman, Hon. Samuel Pam Gyang.”

Reaffirming the party’s presence across the state, the spokesman said the Plateau ADC maintains a well-structured leadership with elected officials in all 17 local government areas, whose tenure runs until 2026.

He added that registration of new members will commence once the national secretariat gives the go-ahead.

The ADC also issued a warning to political actors attempting to derail the current coalition efforts through misinformation and leadership disputes.

The party discredited a social media claim made by Mrs. Hanatu Gagara, who was described as a Women Leader but not the recognised Plateau chairman.

The authentic ADC chairman in Plateau is Hon. Samuel Pam Gyang. Mrs. Hanatu Gagara is our Women Leader, not the chairman. We urge our supporters and the general public to disregard her claims,” they clarified.

He commended the swift intervention of Interim National Secretary Raul Aregbesola in debunking a fake list of state chairmen being circulated online, which he described as an attempt to sow confusion among party supporters.

The ADC restated its commitment to lawful political engagement and said it would continue to resist efforts by “political enemies” seeking to sabotage what it described as an unstoppable movement toward credible leadership in 2027.

We are very much aware of the activities by some bad eggs across the country who are working hard to sabotage the unity of Nigerians, particularly on this current coalition,” he said.
