No fewer than 102 widows in Plateau State have been empowered with vocational skills, start-up kits, and financial support through a three-month programme held at the Mangu Widowhood Centre.
The initiative, organized by the Plateau State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in partnership with GIZ-PEACECORE and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), aimed to restore livelihoods for women affected by social unrest. Beneficiaries were trained in tailoring, catering, crafts, and business management, alongside receiving psychosocial support.

At the graduation ceremony, First Lady Mrs. Helen Mutfwang highlighted the programme as a step toward restoring dignity and creating opportunities for vulnerable women, urging beneficiaries to use their skills and support others.
Commissioner Hon. Caroline Dafur commended the government and partners for sustaining the initiative, noting that each participant received tools and grants to start businesses.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, describing the programme as life-changing, while the government reaffirmed its commitment to expanding empowerment efforts across affected communities.
