The Plateau State Government, in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIoTA), will host the 2025 North Central Zonal Transport Conference in Jos from 23rd to 29th August at Crispan Hotel.
The event will focus on the theme: “Transforming Transport Infrastructure for Sustainable Economic Development in Nigeria.”
At a press briefing in Jos, the Plateau State Commissioner for Transport said the conference will gather stakeholders from across the North Central region to address transportation challenges and unlock new opportunities for growth.
He noted recent achievements in Plateau’s transport sector under Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, including the revival of rail services after two decades and the introduction of the Metro Bus scheme, alongside other infrastructure investments boosting trade and connectivity.
The programme will feature a keynote address by Prof. Ibrahim Choji, former Director at the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), alongside contributions from other industry leaders.
CIoTA President, Prince (Dr.) Segun Ochuko Obayendo, FInstA, said the conference will produce practical recommendations to improve mobility, connectivity, and economic opportunities across the region.
The week-long event will close with visits to key transport facilities and tourist attractions in Jos.
