Police Graduate 616 Constables in Plateau

The Nigerian Police Force has expanded its manpower with the graduation of 616 new constables of the 55th intake in Plateau State.

The event, held on Thursday at the police training ground in Jos, inducted 504 male and 112 female constables into service.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, represented by Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police Polycap Emeka, commended the recruits for their resilience and dedication.

He highlighted that their recruitment would address the rising demands on the police force to maintain law and order nationwide.

Emphasizing the critical role of the new constables, Egbetokun stated, “Your training is just the beginning of your journey. You must continue to learn and grow in your duties. The protection of citizens’ rights and the rule of law should always be your primary focus.”

He reminded the graduates that policing is not merely a career but a vocation requiring integrity, discipline, and unwavering commitment.

The IGP encouraged them to maximize the skills gained during their training and uphold the values instilled in them as they serve the nation.

Additionally, Egbetokun appealed for public support in enhancing security efforts, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between citizens and the police.

He noted, “Policing is a collaborative effort, and the active cooperation of citizens is crucial to the success of law enforcement initiatives. Make their jobs easier by reporting suspicious activities and helping them in their tasks.”

Earlier, the Representative of the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Hon. Justice Paul Galumje JSC (Rtd), who serves as the Hon. Commissioner I, PSC, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the recruitment to strengthen police manpower and providing essential logistical support.

Justice Galumje acknowledged the pressing need for police reinforcement and urged the new constables to reciprocate the government’s goodwill through diligent service.

He further tasked them to collaborate with other security agencies to mitigate the nation’s security challenges. “The commission will closely monitor your activities. From today, I will not hesitate to sanction anyone who deviates from the time-tested established police rules of engagement,” he warned.

Congratulating the recruits on their accomplishment, Galumje remarked, “The nation has found you worthy to wear this uniform. The sky is your limit, and I wish you all a rewarding and productive career in the Nigerian Police.”

The ceremony underscored the Nigerian Police Force’s commitment to strengthening its capacity to address security challenges, with the newly inducted constables expected to play a pivotal role in ensuring peace and order.
