Senator Diket Plang, representing Plateau Central of Plateau State, has launched an empowerment programme aimed at helping over 3,000 constituents, most of whom were affected by the recent crisis in Mangu local government area and other parts of his constituency.

During the launch of the programme in Mangu local government, Senator Plang described the crisis as a devastating blow to the community, which led to the loss of many lives, particularly farmers.

He expressed surprise at the crisis given the area’s generally peaceful nature, attracting people from different walks of life. Senator Plang said the first phase of the programme would mainly benefit women and involve vocational training to help them cope with life after the traumatic incident.

“It is necessary that those elected into political offices need to be closer to their people in times like this because they sacrificed for us to be elected. The crisis has a devastating impact not just on the people of the immediate community but on the general population of Nigeria,” Plang noted.

“My heart is with you, I will not abandon my constituency, the mandate you gave me to represent you at the senate will not be abused because of the trust you have in me. Among those who contested for this seat, you chose to go for the least likely candidate, which is me. I will always remain grateful and therefore will not disappoint you. he said.

Senator Plang also promised continued support and collaboration in the quest for economic liberation and sustenance.

He also stated that he sees the programme as a chance for constituents to become drivers of economic revolution by involving them in various entrepreneurial ventures and acquiring basic skills.

According to him, a segment of this empowerment programme involves digital marketing and the production of basic amenities, like soap and detergent, in both Mangu and Pankshin local government areas.

Also, Senator Plang encouraged patience amidst the national challenges, citing the removal of the petroleum subsidies and expressing confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intentions for Nigeria’s betterment.
