The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has emerged as Nigeria’s leading institution in admission transparency and compliance after receiving a ₦500 million award from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The award was presented during the 6th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit (NATAP-M) Awards held alongside the 2026 Admission Policy Meeting in Abuja on Monday.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations of the University, Emmanuel Madugu, the institution was recognised for its exceptional performance within the nation’s admission system.
According to the statement, UNIJOS emerged as the biggest beneficiary at the event after ranking first in the admission of international students, second in compliance with JAMB admission policy and sixth in national spread of admitted students.
The university received the ₦500 million award in recognition of what JAMB described as outstanding performance in promoting merit, transparency and compliance in tertiary admissions.
The NATAP-M Awards were introduced by JAMB to encourage excellence, accountability and adherence to admission guidelines among tertiary institutions across the country.
Other institutions recognised at the event include Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, which received ₦40 million, while the University of Ilorin, Akwa Ibom State University and Lagos State University received ₦25 million each.
The latest recognition is expected to further strengthen the University of Jos’ reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading federal universities and a growing destination for both local and international students.
