2027: Tinubu Will Be Re-Elected by Nigerians, Not Rigging – Diket Plang

Senator Diket Plang

Senator Diket Plang, who represents Plateau Central Senatorial District, has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a second term in office in 2027, insisting that Nigerians themselves—not rigging—will return him to power.

According to the senator, President Tinubu’s style of leadership, which he described as inclusive, reform-driven and people-centred, has earned him the trust of Nigerians even in the face of the current economic hardship.

Speaking during a media interaction, Plang acknowledged that Nigerians are going through difficult times but argued that the President has shown uncommon commitment to national unity, recognition and long-term economic rebuilding.

“There is one thing that goes beyond poverty, and that is recognition and inclusion. For the first time, I see a president running Nigeria from both economic and humanitarian perspectives. Nigerians may be going through hardship, but they are free, and psychologically, people prefer recognition and inclusion,” he said.

Plang noted that Tinubu’s administration has broken long-standing barriers of tribe, religion and political exclusion, pointing to key appointments across the country as evidence of deliberate efforts to unify Nigeria.

“This is the first time a small tribe in this country will produce a national chairman through the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This is also the first time someone from Southern Kaduna rose to become Chief of Staff and later Minister of Defence. These things give hope and trust to Nigerians,” the senator stated.

He further described President Tinubu as a symbol of unity, citing his personal life and political conduct as reflections of tolerance and national cohesion.

“This is the only president whose wife is a reverend. She goes to her church, he goes to his mosque. He supported her political journey when she served as a senator three times. This president symbolises unity for this nation”

Addressing claims that the growing influence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is driven mainly by political defections rather than performance, Plang dismissed the argument, saying Tinubu’s economic reforms are laying a solid foundation for national recovery.

“In the past, we focused more on poverty alleviation without building the economy. This president is building the economy while also caring for the people. He is holistic,” he said.

While acknowledging the pain associated with policies such as fuel subsidy removal and tax reforms, the senator maintained that the decisions were necessary to reset Nigeria’s economy.

On the political landscape ahead of 2027, Plang said opposition parties remain deeply divided and weakened by internal crises and defections, making it difficult for them to mount a serious presidential challenge.

Plang concluded by expressing strong personal conviction that President Tinubu would be re-elected by the will of Nigerians.“l

“By all indications, God Almighty will return Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president in 2027—not by rigging, but consciously by Nigerians,” he emphasized.
