As part of early political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Riyom and Barkin Ladi Youths Mobilisation and Enlightenment Forum has called on Pharmacist John Chun to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Riyom/Barkin Ladi Federal Constituency.
The group said its decision was driven by Chun’s humanitarian and socio-economic contributions, stressing that his track record in youth empowerment, women development, and support for the elderly had distinguished him as a potential representative for the constituency.
In a statement issued in Jos and signed by Emmanuel Tok and Regina Ambrose, representatives of the forum, the youths pledged to work rigorously to ensure victory for Chun if he declares his intention to contest.
According to the statement, “He has consistently prioritised service over self-interest. Imagine the impact he could have with a bigger platform.”
The group further noted that Chun’s legacy of community service, including his support for orphans and vulnerable persons in Riyom and Barkin Ladi, as well as self-reliance projects for young people, had won him the admiration of many constituents.
They added that the call for Chun’s candidacy reflects the growing demand for transformative leadership in the constituency, assuring that they would mobilise their strength behind his aspiration if he accepts.
