The Langtang North Local Government Council has responded to growing public interest in its budgetary provisions and development projects by encouraging residents to scrutinize official records and promising a series of detailed updates on ongoing and completed projects across the local government area.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, the Council said public discussions on governance, accountability, and project implementation should be guided by verified information, proper context, and accurate interpretation of official documents.
The statement, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Kum Precious, acknowledged the increasing public conversations surrounding government spending and development initiatives, describing citizen engagement as an important pillar of democratic governance.
“The people of Langtang North deserve transparency. They deserve accountability. They deserve facts. And they deserve accurate information,” the statement noted.
The Council urged residents to independently review the approved Langtang North budget through the Plateau State Government’s transparency platform, emphasizing that the budget remains a public document accessible to all interested citizens.
According to the statement, misunderstandings have arisen from interpretations of projects captured in the 2026 fiscal framework, with some projects allegedly being portrayed as abandoned despite being at various stages of implementation.
The administration explained that a budget serves as a planning and appropriation document, outlining proposed expenditures, development priorities, and anticipated projects, and should not automatically be interpreted as evidence that a project has been completed, fully funded, or abandoned.
“Projects typically pass through several stages, including planning, procurement, mobilization, implementation, supervision and eventual completion,” the Council stated.
To support its position, the Council cited several projects currently under implementation within the local government area.
Among them is the construction of the Supervisory Councillors’ Office at the Local Government Secretariat, which the administration said is ongoing and visible to members of the public.
The Council also disclosed that procurement processes for the proposed solar streetlight initiative have been completed, while arrangements are underway for shipment, installation, and deployment.
At Zamko Market, the administration reported that fencing works are ongoing and that boreholes have already been drilled in preparation for the construction of sanitation and toilet facilities intended to improve hygiene and commercial activities within the market environment.
The statement further urged residents to distinguish between proposed projects, ongoing projects, and completed projects when evaluating government performance and budget implementation.
The Council also reminded the public that Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem assumed office in October 2024, stressing the need to differentiate between obligations, expenditures, and projects inherited from previous administrations and those undertaken during the current tenure.
Reaffirming its commitment to prudent resource management and transparent governance, the administration said it remains focused on delivering impactful interventions across critical sectors including education, agriculture, infrastructure, water resources, healthcare, security, youth development, and community advancement.
In what may be one of the administration’s most significant transparency initiatives to date, the Council announced plans to commence regular public updates detailing ongoing and completed projects throughout Langtang North.
According to the statement, the updates will include project locations, implementation timelines, photographs, status reports, and other relevant information to enable citizens monitor progress and assess developmental interventions undertaken by the Council.
The administration expressed confidence that public trust would be strengthened through evidence-based communication and visible results.
“As part of our commitment to openness and public engagement, the Council will, in the coming days and weeks, commence a series of detailed public updates highlighting ongoing and completed projects across the Local Government Area,” the statement added.
The Council concluded by appreciating the vigilance and participation of residents in governance, while assuring citizens that ongoing projects and development initiatives would continue to receive the attention necessary to ensure successful completion and maximum benefit to communities across Langtang North.
