The APC Angels Youth Initiatives Organisation (AAYIO) has announced its defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
The group made the announcement on Tuesday at a press conference in Abuja, where it unveiled its new political identity and alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
AAYIO said the decision followed extensive consultations with its state coordinators, national leadership and diaspora chapters, describing the move as a strategic realignment aimed at strengthening youth participation in governance and national development.
The organisation, which has operated since 2015 as the PDP Angels Youth Initiatives Organisation, said the transformation was unanimous and deliberate.
According to the group, its decision is driven by confidence in President Tinubu’s economic reform agenda, youth empowerment programmes and broader vision for national repositioning ahead of 2027.
“This transformation is not symbolic. It is structural, ideological and operational,” the group said, adding that its grassroots structures, mobilisation networks and diaspora chapters have been fully repositioned under the new political direction.
As part of its reorganisation, AAYIO announced the appointment of Seyi Tinubu as its Grand Patron, citing his involvement in youth development, entrepreneurship and grassroots empowerment initiatives.
The organisation disclosed that it has active structures across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with diaspora chapters in Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Portugal and parts of Asia and Europe.
It said the international chapters would support advocacy and digital mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.AAYIO also announced April 22, 2026, as the date for its official public launch in Abuja, where it plans to unveil its national leadership structure, strategic roadmap and youth-focused programmes.
Reaffirming its political stance, the group said it is committed to supporting President Tinubu’s re-election bid through lawful, democratic and grassroots-driven processes.
The statement was signed by the group’s president, Queen Chinenye Ubah, who thanked participants at the press conference and reaffirmed AAYIO’s commitment to national development and youth inclusion.
