On Friday, the National and State Houses of Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal in Jos overturned the election of Moses Sule, the representative for the Mikang State constituency.
Sule, the current Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, was elected under the Peoples Democratic Party.
The tribunal also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) to return the certificate of return originally granted to Sule, instead directing it to Daniel Nanlong of the All Progressives Congress, the runner-up in the voting tally.
The basis for the tribunal’s ruling was that Sule’s party, the PDP, lacked a legal structure to nominate him as a candidate for the previous election.
