Over 25,000 to Benefit from Hon. Daniel Asama’s Free Medical Outreach in Bassa/Jos North

Residents receive free medical care at an outreach program in Plateau State.

More than 25,000 residents of Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency are set to benefit from a three-day free medical outreach organized by the Member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Daniel Asama Ago.

The initiative, fully sponsored by Hon. Asama, includes the distribution of essential drugs and medical supplies to 12 Primary Healthcare Clinics (PHCs) and four tertiary health institutions across the constituency.

The outreach prioritizes eye care, particularly glaucoma, a leading cause of blindness, with over 2,000 prescription glasses to be issued free of charge.

Medical supplies set for distribution to healthcare centers in Plateau State.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Hon. Asama acknowledged the economic difficulties facing Nigerians, emphasizing that good health is essential for people to be productive.

“Providing food and support is crucial, but only a healthy person can go out and fend for themselves. This outreach is driven by three priorities: the economic hardship in the country, my mandate as a representative, and my deep love for humanity,” he stated.

Hon. Asama reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people, noting that his political philosophy centers on ensuring constituents receive what rightfully belongs to them.

“I will always do my best to bring the people’s resources to them. My focus is not on party differences but on delivering meaningful development to Bassa/Jos North,”he said.

He urged constituents to appreciate the effort, stressing that while not everyone might directly benefit from the outreach, someone in their family or community would.

“If you do not benefit, your brother will. If your brother does not, your neighbor will. If not your neighbor, then your community will,”he assured.

Hon. Asama also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the federal and state governments, highlighting that political differences should not hinder governance.

We are working together—President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of the PDP, and lawmakers from various parties—all for the betterment of our people. This is not about religion or politics; it is about serving our constituency,” he emphasized.

Apart from the medical team on-site diagnosing and treating patients, the outreach ensures that selected PHCs receive medical supplies for continued patient care at no cost.

Beneficiary facilities include Lapape in Jengre, Amo Maikatako, Binchin, Kisaloi, Kwall, and Miango in Bassa LGA, as well as PHC Ungwan Rukuba, Ali Kazaure, Angwan Rogo, Targon Regiza, Yelwan Zangam, and Tudun Wada in Jos North LGA.

Tertiary institutions that received medical supplies include Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), and Our Lady of Fatima (Ola Hospital).

The lawmaker expressed gratitude to the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) for collaborating to make the initiative a success. Beneficiaries of the outreach lauded the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention in a period of economic hardship.

Many expressed appreciation for the lawmaker’s efforts, stating that they had never experienced such a gesture from previous representatives.

The medical outreach, which runs for three days, continues to provide free eye examinations, treatment, and medication for residents across the constituency.
