The Langtang North Local Government Council has announced plans to integrate ICT-based learning across public schools as part of efforts to modernise teaching methods and improve educational standards in rural communities.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Kum Precious, said the initiative reflects the council’s commitment to repositioning the education sector through technology-driven instruction and enhanced teacher capacity.
He said the chairman, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, reaffirmed the administration’s resolve during the Early Grade Reading Step-Down Workshop organised by the Local Government Education Authority for teachers drawn from public schools across the area.
According to the statement,“For us, the future of education in Langtang North lies in strengthening digital literacy and exposing our children to technology early. The council is taking deliberate steps to introduce ICT-based learning to align our standards with global trends,”
He added that the council was equally prioritising creativity and skill development to improve learning outcomes, especially in rural communities where pupils often struggle with foundational literacy and exposure to modern learning tools.
The statement explained that the administration is also considering the introduction of performance-based incentives to motivate outstanding teachers and enhance service delivery in the basic education sector.
It further noted that the Local Government Education Authority had recently unveiled a flex banner highlighting key achievements within the past year, including the renovation of the LGEA administrative office, provision of instructional materials, classroom construction, procurement of motorcycles for school monitoring and improvements in staff welfare.
The government urged teachers and stakeholders to key into the ICT-driven model, assuring that the council remains committed to providing the resources and support needed to improve teaching and learning across all public schools.
