The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Plateau State Governor on Middle Belt Nationalities, Hon. Dan Kwada, has announced the maiden edition of the “Middle Belt Leaders’ Connect and Get-together,” set to hold on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the Eliel Center in Jos, Plateau State.
According to a statement personally signed by Hon. Kwada and made available to newsmen, the event aims to foster unity, understanding, and cooperation among leaders of Middle Belt ethnic nationalities spanning 15 states in northern Nigeria.
“The event, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., will bring together key leaders and stakeholders from diverse ethnic nationalities in the Middle Belt region. It reflects the ongoing commitment of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s administration to promote inclusivity and unity,” the statement reads.
Revd. Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam and Hon. Engr. Jerry Satmark, Chief of Staff to the Plateau State Government House, are expected to deliver keynote addresses.
Goodwill messages will also be presented by representatives of prominent organizations such as CONAECDA, PIDAN, SUKAPO, the Middle Belt Journalists Forum, civil society groups, and the Plateau State Chapter of the NUJ.
Speaking on the significance of the gathering, Hon. Kwada described it as a historic initiative approved by Governor Mutfwang to strengthen peace, cooperation, and cultural integration in the Middle Belt.
He emphasized that the event is a stepping stone toward launching the Middle Belt Ethnic Nationalities Connect initiative in 2025.
“This platform will serve to promote the rich culture and traditions of the various ethnic nationalities in the Middle Belt and unite our people for the common goal of regional development,” Hon. Kwada said.
The SSA further highlighted his efforts since assuming office four months ago, noting that he had reached out to over 100 Middle Belt leaders and critical stakeholders to secure their support for the governor’s “Time Is Now” administration.
The event promises to be a landmark occasion in promoting unity and fostering collaboration among the diverse ethnic communities in the Middle Belt.
