Governor Caleb Mutfwang has declared an end to factional divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, affirming that the party has now fully returned to the path of peace, unity, and collective purpose.
Speaking on Saturday at the PDP State Congress held at the Waye Foundation, Du, Jos South Local Government Area, the governor described the peaceful election of new executive members as a defining moment for the party in Plateau.
Chief Raymond Dabo emerged as State Chairman, alongside 38 others, in what observers described as one of the most orderly and transparent congresses in the party’s recent history.
Governor Mutfwang, addressing the gathering shortly after the swearing-in of the new officials, said the exercise had brought to an end years of internal divisions that weakened the PDP in the state.
“Since I joined the PDP, this is the first State Congress we are holding without a contest,” he stated. “This shows our readiness to work as one family under one leadership and one umbrella. The era of exclusion and division is over. Together, we must rebuild and move forward into 2027.”
He acknowledged the understanding of aspirants who stepped down to allow for consensus, saying their action reflected political maturity and loyalty to the party.
“Those who truly belong will remain. Plateau is PDP, and PDP is Plateau. Our strength has always been in our connection with the people, and that will not change.” he said.

Announcing the results earlier, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Hon. David Embughadu, confirmed that Chief Raymond Dabo emerged Chairman with 2,162 votes, while Engr. Gyang Tanko polled 2,102 votes to become Deputy Chairman. Mr. Michael Dachom was elected State Secretary and Dr. Felix Choji as Publicity Secretary, among others.
He said the congress was conducted in line with the PDP Constitution and witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who monitored the process throughout.
In his valedictory remarks, the outgoing Chairman, Hon. Chris Hassan, appreciated the support of party members during his tenure, recalling that under his leadership, the PDP recorded significant victories in the 2023 elections before the court decisions that altered some outcomes.
He urged the new leadership to build on the achievements of the past and sustain the unity that now defines the party’s direction.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Raymond Dabo pledged to lead a transparent, inclusive, and credible administration, with reconciliation as his top priority.
“Our first task is to rebuild trust,” Dabo said. “We will visit every local government, every ward, and every home to restore peace among our members. We will ensure credible and transparent primaries as we prepare for 2027.”
The event, which attracted government officials, party elders, and representatives from the PDP National Secretariat, was described as peaceful and well-coordinated — a sign that Plateau PDP is once again united and ready for the tasks ahead.
