Over 300 Middle Belt Leaders Pass Vote of Confidence in Governor Mutfwang

Over 300 leaders of various ethnic nationalities in the Middle Belt region have passed a vote of confidence in Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and his deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo, citing his commitment to peace, security, infrastructural development, and inclusive governance.

The decision was announced after a review meeting of the Middle Belt ethnic nationalities held on Sunday in Jos.

Speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, the leader of the group, Professor Abraham Dogo, said the endorsement followed “crucial deliberations” among the representatives.

We, the leaders of over 300 ethnic nationalities of the Middle Belt on the Plateau, gathered here, and after a crucial deliberation, we wish to express our utmost confidence and pass a vote of confidence in the leadership of Governor Caleb Mutfwang and his deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo

This is because of his commitment to peace, security, infrastructural development, and inclusive governance, which has earned our highest commendation.”Dogo stated.

The leaders described the appointment of a Senior Special Assistant on Middle Belt Ethnic Nationalities Affairs as the first of its kind in the history of the state, adding that no successive administration had demonstrated such an inclusive approach to governance.

They also pledged to mobilise their communities to participate actively in the forthcoming voter registration exercise and urged the governor to sustain efforts in tackling insecurity, promoting youth empowerment, and revitalising agriculture.

Speaking on behalf of the ethnic nationalities, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Middle Belt Ethnic Nationalities and Middle Belt Affairs, Dan Kwada, said the endorsement was a testament to the governor’s “unwavering commitment” to the welfare of the people.

What has happened is just a tip of the iceberg compared to what is going to happen in the coming days because this endorsement is a testament to Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Plateau people, security, peace, infrastructural development, and inclusive governance,” Kwada said.

He added that the ethnic nationalities present included representatives from Southern Kaduna, Nasarawa, Benue, Zuru, Borno, Taraba, and Gombe, united in their support for the governor.
