Plateau State is set to reposition itself as a frontier for inclusive enterprise growth and investment attraction with the launch of the Plateau Entrepreneurship and Investment Summit (PLEIS 2025), scheduled to take place from July 3rd to 4th in Jos, the state capital.
With the theme “Plateau’s Renaissance: Leveraging Innovation, Enterprise, and Strategic Investment,” the summit is designed as a multi-stakeholder engagement that will bring together actors across the public and private sectors, development agencies, and the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem to unlock new business pipelines and catalyze long-term economic transformation.
Speaking to journalists in Jos, the Convener and Lead Technical Partner, Cletus Akhimien, described the event as “a deliberate interface to spotlight Plateau’s investment potential, energize scalable business models, and create financing linkages to power real growth.”
He emphasized that PLEIS 2025 will focus on strengthening Plateau’s business environment, especially for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), under-tapped value chains, and emerging sectors such as ICT, agriculture, tourism, energy, and the creative economy.
“This is not just a summit,” Akhimien noted, “it’s a blueprint for practical engagement—one that aligns government reforms with market-driven solutions and encourages local ownership of the state’s economic future.”
According to him, preparatory consultations are ongoing with key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), the Plateau State Microfinance Development Agency (PLASMIDA), the Plateau State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PLACCIMA), organized private sector groups, and development partners to ensure wide participation and institutional support.
Highlights of the two-day summit include sector-specific investment panels, startup and MSME pitching clinics, investor roundtables, diaspora engagement sessions, enterprise exhibitions, and public-private dialogue platforms.
Also lined up are thematic masterclasses for business leaders and innovation awards to celebrate outstanding enterprises across the state.
Akhimien stressed that the timing of the summit aligns with Plateau’s ongoing transition from economic fragility to stability, anchored by reforms in digital governance, access to finance, and targeted support for youth and women-led businesses.
“Plateau is entering a new era of confidence, where bold investments in enterprise and innovation are no longer optional but essential,” he stated. “This summit is an open invitation to those who want to do business in Plateau, with Plateau, and for Plateau.”
Stakeholders, including investors, donor agencies, academic institutions, entrepreneurs, and regulatory bodies, have been encouraged to register, sponsor sessions, or partner via the official summit portal. The summit will be hosted at Crispan Suites and Events Centre, Jos.
