Riyom PDP Endorses Mutfwang, Piyo for 2027 Second Term

Stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Riyom Local Government Area have unanimously endorsed Governor Caleb Mutfwang and his Deputy, Josephine Piyo, for a second term in office, citing their visible performance and people-oriented leadership across the state.

The endorsement was made during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held at TN Resort in Riyom, attended by party elders, elected officials, government appointees, and grassroots leaders from across the 17 wards of the LGA.

Speaking at the gathering, former Senate Minority Leader and prominent Plateau North political figure, Senator Simon Mwadkwon, described the decision as timely and rooted in performance.

Governor Mutfwang has shown capacity, resilience, and a clear vision for Plateau. The unity displayed here today shows that his re-election in 2027 is not just possible but achievable,” Mwadkwon said.

He encouraged stakeholders and appointees to close ranks, stressing the need for synergy between elected and appointed officials to drive development and strengthen the party’s hold in the area.

He also expressed appreciation to the people of Riyom for their overwhelming support in previous elections, urging continued unity in addressing lingering security challenges.

Mwadkwon didn’t shy away from addressing the security situation, calling on those allegedly shielding criminal elements to desist, warning that such acts threaten the peace and stability of the area.

We must put humanity first—beyond religion or ethnicity. We need peace to grow,” he emphasized.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Riyom LGA, Hon. Bature Sati Shuwa, appreciated the endorsement and reaffirmed his commitment to delivering impactful projects.

He noted that some projects had already been executed and assured residents of more interventions to come.

The Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, who hails from Riyom, was represented by her Chief of Staff, Hon. Alex Kundang.

He commended the stakeholders for their continued loyalty and pledged the administration’s resolve to intensify development efforts in Riyom and beyond.

This endorsement shows that the people recognize genuine efforts. We will not take your support for granted,” he said.

Chairman of the PDP in Riyom LGA, Hon. Dama Song, said the meeting was convened to deepen internal cohesion and prepare the party for future electoral victories.

He called on all stakeholders to remain responsive to the needs of the people and work together for the greater good of the party and the local government.

The motion for endorsement was formally moved by Da Yusufu Kwon, Secretary of the PDP Elders’ Council in the LGA, and seconded by Hon. Noro Davou, the Councilor representing Tahoss Ward.

The Chairperson of the PDP Elders’ Council in Riyom, Ngo Mary Dang, pledged the elders’ continued support for the Mutfwang administration and called for sustained unity across all party levels.

A moment of silence was observed for those who lost their lives in recent attacks within the area.

The meeting ended with renewed optimism, as stakeholders left the venue with a shared commitment to advancing the PDP’s vision in Riyom and Plateau State at large.
