The First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reiterated the Federal Government’s dedication to economic empowerment through the provision of grants to 1,000 women petty traders in each state nationwide.
This initiative, a crucial element of the Renewed Hope Initiative Economic Empowerment Programme, seeks to uplift small businesses and improve the livelihoods of women who serve as the foundation of local economies.
In a recent address on behalf of the First Lady, Barr. Mrs. Helen Mutfwang, the First Lady of Plateau State, highlighted the significance of aiding petty traders.
She recognized the numerous challenges these women encounter while celebrating their remarkable resilience.
“Despite their limited resources, these women have continued to sustain their families and contribute to economic growth.”
“Today, through the Renewed Hope Initiative, we are providing 1,000 pre-selected women petty traders per state with a grant of N50,000 each to recapitalize and grow their businesses,” Mrs. Mutfwang said.
Additionally, she noted that a total of N1.85 billion will be disbursed to 37,000 women throughout the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
This empowerment initiative is designed to tackle the financial obstacles faced by women entrepreneurs in the informal sector, with a particular focus on petty traders.
Mrs. Mutfwang underscored the importance of such initiatives in combating poverty and ensuring inclusive economic growth.
In a related effort, Mrs. Mutfwang presided over a rice distribution aimed at less privileged individuals in Plateau State.
This rice distribution, part of a collaborative initiative between the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and the Renewed Hope Initiative, aims to alleviate hunger and hardship within the state.
“This gesture is a clear indication that the present administration is concerned about the untold hardship being faced by the people,” Mrs. Mutfwang stated, acknowledging the resilience of Plateau citizens in the face of economic difficulties.
Furthermore, she revealed that the state government had increased the quantity of rice being distributed, thereby reinforcing its commitment to addressing food insecurity.
The First Lady of Plateau State seized the opportunity to express her gratitude to the citizens for their support of the Mutfwang-led administration. She assured them that the government is committed to enhancing living conditions and fostering opportunities for wealth creation.
“As we distribute this rice today,I want to stress that the government is mindful of your plight and will continue to work towards making life better for you.” She said.
Mrs. Mutfwang pledged ongoing collaboration with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Initiative for the benefit of Plateau citizens.
