In anticipation of the upcoming local government elections, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has officially inaugurated the campaign for the Plateau South Senatorial District, generating enthusiasm and optimism among supporters.
The Governor highlighted that these elections will be crucial for facilitating essential development in rural communities across the state. Mutfwang reiterated the strong bond that citizens share with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he described as a symbol of hope and a prosperous future for the state.
Expressing gratitude to the Southern Zone for their overwhelming backing during the 2023 elections, he urged them to extend the same support in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for October 9, 2024.

The Governor laid out his administration’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure in the Southern Senatorial Zone.
He announced the allocation of significant funds aimed at improving electricity supply, while also highlighting ongoing initiatives to provide potable water and establish a robust road network.
Furthermore, Mutfwang reassured the public of his dedication to fostering an inclusive government.
“Let me make it clear that individuals who contested various positions and were unsuccessful would not be left out, as this administration is determined to involve everyone in governance,” he stated.
The Governor called on the residents of Plateau South to unite in support of the PDP during the upcoming local government elections to usher in a new era of meaningful democratic benefits for the district.
“I want to assure you that my administration is fully committed to delivering on its promises; by the grace of God, I will journey with you throughout this administration,” he remarked.
He also stressed that the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) is set to conduct free, fair, and credible elections, pledging to restore transparency to the electoral process in the state.
In a show of support, he presented flags to all the PDP Chairmanship candidates in the zone. In his remarks, Dakas Shan, the PDP Zonal Vice Chairman for the North Central Zone, expressed confidence in Plateau South’s status as a PDP stronghold. He predicted a sweeping victory across both Chairmanship and Councilorship seats in all 17 local government areas.
Earlier, Governor Mutfwang paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Miskoom Martin Sheldas III, the Long Gamai of the Gamai Nation and Chairman of the Shendam Traditional Council.
The Governor expressed his gratitude for the traditional ruler’s support during the 2023 elections and thanked God for his healing and recovery.
