300-Level Accounting Student Joins UNIJOS SUG Presidential Race with Ubuntu Vision

A 300-level Accounting student, Kiku Roy Magaji, has officially declared his intention to run for the position of President of the Students Union Government (SUG) at the University of Jos.

He made this declaration on Wednesday after obtaining his nomination form from the Directorate of Student Affairs. In an address to fellow students, Magaji outlined his vision for a cohesive student body, emphasizing his commitment to leading with integrity and a strong sense of service.

He described the University of Jos as “a bastion of knowledge, a nurturing ground for leaders, thinkers, and innovators” who embody the ideals of integrity and humanity.

Magaji’s campaign is centered around the philosophy of Ubuntu, which emphasizes interconnectedness and collective responsibility.

He stated that his campaign theme, “I am because we are,” reflects his belief in the power of unity and mutual support within the student community.

He stated” To the esteemed student body of the University of Jos, I stand before you today with immense pride and a profound sense of responsibility as I declare my intention to run for the position of SUG President,”

“My aspirations stem from a deep commitment to serve every student, to amplify your voices, and to champion the issues that matter to you.”He continued, “Our university has a rich history of cultivating student leaders who embody the essence of service to humanity.

Together, we can achieve great things—one for all, all for one. In the spirit of Ubuntu, I pledge to foster an inclusive environment where every opinion is valued, and we work together to overcome obstacles.”

Magaji also emphasized the role of students in shaping the future of the university. “The power of the leaders you choose lies in your hands. Your trust and support are invaluable, and I assure you that I will be a dedicated servant leader, committed to listening and acting upon your concerns,” he said.

In concluding his address, Magaji expressed gratitude to the university administration for their ongoing support of student welfare, acknowledging the Vice Chancellor, the Dean of Students, and the current SUG executives. He commended the existing leadership for their unwavering commitment to advocating for student rights, setting a high standard for future leaders to uphold.
