
A total of 500 women across Plateau State have been empowered through the Renewed Hope Initiative Business Recapitalisation Grant Programme officially launched by the Plateau State Government.
The distribution ceremony, held at Centre La Sharp in Jos, formed part of a nationwide effort to promote women’s entrepreneurship and inclusive economic growth.
The event brought together beneficiaries, community leaders, and government officials, who applauded the initiative as a practical step toward economic self-reliance for women.
The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and National Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, was represented by the First Lady of Plateau State, Barr. Mrs. Helen Mutfwang, who serves as the State Coordinator of the programme.
The initiative, implemented in collaboration with the Tony Elumelu Foundation and the Plateau State Government, provides financial support to women to enable them to sustain and expand their small businesses while contributing to community development.
In her remarks, Barr. Helen Mutfwang acknowledged the support of the Tony Elumelu Foundation and urged the beneficiaries to manage the grants responsibly and use them to create lasting change in their communities.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Caroline Panglang Dafur, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to empowering women and promoting entrepreneurship as a tool for sustainable development.
Beneficiaries at the event expressed appreciation to the First Ladies of Nigeria and Plateau State for driving the programme and pledged to make good use of the opportunity to improve their livelihoods.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Wife of the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and the State Women Leader, both of whom commended the initiative for its impact on women’s economic advancement.
The programme marks a major step toward expanding financial inclusion and strengthening small businesses owned by women across Plateau State, contributing to job creation and community growth.
