A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Yilchini Jan Bida, has rejected the outcome of the party’s governorship primary election, describing the exercise as a “sham” riddled with irregularities and manipulation.
In a press release issued on Saturday, Bida faulted the results declared at the APC State Secretariat in Jos, which pronounced his opponent as winner of the primary allegedly conducted across the state on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The retired military officer said the decision to reject the outcome followed consultations with his campaign team, legal advisers, agents, and stakeholders across the 17 local government areas of the state.
According to him, the process that produced the results lacked transparency and credibility, alleging that no genuine election took place in several parts of the state.
Bida claimed that his accredited agents arrived at the APC State Secretariat as early as 7:30 a.m. on the day of the exercise but witnessed no electoral activity for several hours.
He further alleged that election materials were secretly moved to Crispan Hotel and distributed behind closed doors without the knowledge or participation of his agents.
The aspirant also alleged widespread disenfranchisement of party members, insisting that electoral officials and voting materials never arrived at many designated venues across the state.
“I traveled to my ward in Nemel, Kanke Local Government Area, to cast my vote but was completely disenfranchised because no officials or materials showed up,” he stated.
Bida further alleged that while party faithful waited in confusion across the state, pre-written results and staged counting videos had already begun circulating on social media.
Questioning the authenticity of the declared figures, he described the results as “mathematically impossible” in a genuine democratic process.
“As a trained forensic accountant, I must call urgent attention to the severe lack of integrity in the data and figures being circulated as election results,” he said.
According to him, the voting figures appeared excessively uniform and synchronized across different local government areas, suggesting possible manipulation.
The APC aspirant also accused party officials of excluding him and his representatives from the official declaration of results, which he said violated established electoral guidelines.
He called on the National Working Committee (NWC) and leadership of the APC to immediately investigate what he described as widespread irregularities that compromised the integrity of the primary election.
Despite his grievances, Bida urged his supporters across the state to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding, assuring them that lawful and democratic avenues were being explored to seek justice.
The APC is yet to officially respond to the allegations raised by the aspirant.
