Gindiri Alumni Begin Courtesy Visits to Support 1-Billion-Naira Overhaul Project

In anticipation of its forthcoming National Convention and Reunion Service, the Gindiri Old Students Association (GOSA) has commenced a series of courtesy visits to influential state and community leaders.

These include officials from the state government, the owner of the mission compound—the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), the host community, and local traditional rulers.

These engagements emphasize GOSA’s acknowledgment of constituted authorities and aim to cultivate support for an ambitious project valued at 1 billion naira, which seeks to transform Boys Secondary School (BSS) and Girls High School (GHS) into exemplary institutions through the introduction of world-class learning facilities, updated equipment, sporting amenities that meet international standards, and virtual classrooms.

During a visit to the Chairman of Mangu Local Government Area, GOSA President Mrs. Elizabeth Tsavnande underscored the importance of involving the host community.

She stated, “Our visit to the Chairman is crucial, as we are here to keep the local government informed about the lineup of activities for the upcoming GOSA Week, scheduled from November 1 to 3, 2024.”

Upon receiving the GOSA delegation, Mangu Local Government Secretary Hon. Yusuf Tongpan lauded the long-standing influence of GOSA within the community.

He remarked, “The local government is proud to be the host of this esteemed association, admired and respected for its achievements. GOSA has done us proud with its global recognition and accomplishments, and we are truly honored to support you in any way possible.”

Additionally, the association paid a courtesy visit to the Sum Pyem, His Royal Highness Charles Mato, who acknowledged GOSA’s contribution to enhancing the educational standards of the community.

HRH Mato stated, “The association has been a strong backbone in my chiefdom and beyond. I encourage GOSA to maintain these high standards of education and to equip young and upcoming members so they can carry the legacy forward.”

Furthermore, Dr. Solomon Mangvwat, Co-Chairman of the 2024 Convention Program, shed light on the theme of the upcoming convention, Nurturing Excellence, Strengthening Bonds for a Brighter Future.

He characterized the event as a celebration of GOSA’s achievements, legacy, and future aspirations, urging members to engage actively and honor their shared heritage while working towards a brighter tomorrow.
