Langtang North Council Reaffirms Transparency, Warns Against False Claims on Allocations

Langtang North Local Government Council has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability in the management of statutory allocations, warning individuals against spreading unverified claims on social media.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Kum Precious, on behalf of Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, in reaction to recent comments alleging mismanagement of local government funds.

According to the statement, the Council has remained steadfast in ensuring that all allocations received are judiciously utilized for developmental projects that directly impact citizens. It listed areas of focus to include infrastructure rehabilitation, staff welfare, education, healthcare, and agricultural support.

The statement reads: “The Executive Chairman, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, wishes to affirm his unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the prudent management of public resources.

Since assumption of office, all statutory allocations received by the Council have been judiciously utilized for projects and programmes that directly benefit our people.”

It further noted that the Council’s financial management practices align with Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s policy of open governance and fiscal responsibility, stressing that all expenditures follow due process and are properly documented.

While acknowledging citizens’ right to seek clarification on public matters, the Council urged that such engagements be conducted responsibly and based on facts. It also expressed readiness for any lawful verification, audit, or oversight process by relevant authorities, including anti-corruption agencies.

However, the Council expressed concern over a post made by one Mr. Timlok Fyenda, accusing the Council of financial impropriety and threatening to publish what it described as “unverified and malicious information” against the Executive Chairman.

The statement further reads: “The Council hereby gives Mr. Fyenda one week to substantiate his claims with verifiable evidence, failing which the matter shall be referred to the appropriate legal authorities for action.

“We consider such false and unsubstantiated allegations as deliberate attempts to undermine public confidence and incite distrust against a lawfully elected administration committed to service delivery.”

Langtang North Council, therefore, appealed for constructive and fact-based public engagement, emphasizing that falsehood and reckless statements only serve to distract from the shared vision of peace and progress in the area.
