Plateau State’s Chief of Staff, Builder Jeremiah Satmak, has reaffirmed that Governor Caleb Mutfwang is deeply committed to the transformation of the Middle-Belt region. Speaking at the Maiden Edition of the Plateau Middle-Belt Leaders Connect and End-of-Year Get-Together, Satmak emphasized that the governor is passionate about uniting the region and driving its development.
The event, held on December 22, 2024, at Eliel Center in Rayfield, Jos, was organized by Hon. Dan Kwada, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Mutfwang on Middle-Belt Ethnic Nationalities.
During his address, Satmak revealed that the creation of the office of Special Assistant on Middle-Belt Ethnic Nationalities was a strategic move aimed at fostering unity and collaboration among the diverse ethnic groups in the region.
Satmak stated, “Our people have suffered immense losses—lives have been lost, and lands taken. Therefore, it is crucial that we foster a unified front to collaborate and create a conducive environment for peaceful coexistence and economic empowerment.”
He further assured attendees that the government is working tirelessly to address these challenges and improve the quality of life in the region.
The keynote speaker, Rev. Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam, strongly criticized the neglect of the Middle-Belt by the federal government, stating, “We are not second-class citizens.”
He emphasized the region’s rich ethnic diversity and its historical role in Nigeria’s unity. Para-Mallam called for Middle-Belt leaders to reject the divisive mentality of ethnic majority and minority and work together for the common good.
Hon. Dan Kwada echoed these concerns, lamenting the lack of significant political, social, and economic development in the region, despite its historical contributions to the nation.
He stated, “It is time to change the narrative,” urging Middle-Belt leaders to embrace Governor Mutfwang’s initiative and work toward creating a lasting legacy of progress for future generations.
Overall, the event provided a vital opportunity for the sons and daughters of the Middle-Belt to connect, discuss shared challenges, and chart a new path forward—one focused on unity, collaboration, and sustainable development.
