Plateau Youth Unveils Made-in-Nigeria Tech Products to Boost Local Tech Production

A young innovator from Plateau State, Zang Luka, has taken a bold step toward transforming Nigeria’s technology landscape by unveiling a range of locally made USB cables and mobile phone chargers under his company, Zang Global.

The product launch and exhibition, held at the Usiju World Event Centre in Jos, brought together government officials, entrepreneurs, and technology enthusiasts who commended the initiative as a remarkable example of youth-led industrial innovation.

The event also renewed discussions on how government policy and private investment can expand opportunities for local inventors.

Zang, who started his innovation journey in a small workspace with limited tools, said his dream was to prove that Nigerian youths can design and produce high-quality tech products that meet global standards.

When I began this journey, I asked myself a simple question: how can I build something that captures imagination? My first project didn’t succeed because I lacked the tools and resources, but that failure became the seed that gave birth to something bigger, and that journey has led us to where we are today,” he said.

He explained that the new products were made with locally sourced materials and skilled young technicians who share his passion for innovation and sustainability.

“We are proudly launching Made-in-Nigeria USB cables and chargers built with local innovation, local minds, and global standards. This is about possibility and changing the narrative, showing that young people in Plateau and across Nigeria can create world-class solutions,” he added.

Zang Global’s long-term plan, tagged Vision 2029, aims to create 15,000 jobs across Africa by training young people and displaced persons in renewable energy and electronic waste recycling.

Our mission is not just to manufacture tech products but to build a greener Africa where innovation drives opportunity,” Zang said.

Chief Executive Officer of Jos Business School, Chief Ezekiel Gomos, who delivered the keynote address, praised the young entrepreneur’s determination and called on the Plateau State Government to establish a ₦500 million Innovation Fund to support local inventors.

In one state, young innovators were given ₦500 million to develop their ideas, and that initiative increased both revenue and youth engagement. Plateau has the potential to achieve even more if we deliberately invest in these young minds,” he said.

Also speaking, the Plateau State Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Cletus Bako Shurkuk, commended the young innovators for their creativity and reaffirmed the government’s readiness to create an enabling environment for innovation to thrive.

The launch, which also showcased renewable energy and e-waste recycling prototypes, underscored Plateau State’s growing reputation as a hub of creativity and sustainable technology. Participants said the initiative demonstrated how innovation can drive youth empowerment and industrial growth across Nigeria.
